This a open letter to the Rutter family:
How do you say goodbye to a man who brought joy, laughter and friendship into every room? whose only desire was to make sure everyone felt like family and that everyone belonged?
How do you say goodbye to a man who opened his home and offered you a ride at 2 am without question, even if you had body piercings and encouraged his 17 year old to dye her hair black?
How do you say good-bye to a man who told you on his only daughter's wedding day that day was the most perfect day in his life, when his baby became a wife to not only a man he liked but one he respected?
Dave Liked MANY People but it took a hell of a lot to gain this Hockey fan's trust.
A trust I seen in Mike's eyes meant as much to him to have received as it meant for Dave to have given. Dave let his beautiful daughter go to a man he trusted.
Mike is one of the few to have been given this honor, but those of us who Dave trusted know it is just that an honor, one of which we hold with pride.
He was a firm believer in character, he stood on principal on many matters.
He was what every man strives to be in a husband, doting, affectionate and compassionate.
As a father he was always there, always ready and always a Dad! he cheered Jenn on and he wiped her tears and he mended her heart several times.
They say you can see into one's soul through their eyes with Dave this is true.
His Eyes twinkled when he danced with Jen at her wedding, and when I caught him dabbing his eyes from tears the first time he seen his baby-girl in her wedding dress.
and yet you could tell his two favorite ladies were Debbie and Jen. The way he looked at them, you could see the pride beam.
Dave's eyes always held the truth in them.
the one thing his eyes also said was his pride for his family and those of you lucky enough to be family, and those of us lucky enough to be considered as part of the extended family. We know how that meant not just something to Dave, but everything.
This is a man who really graced the universe with his presence, and his kindness was unique and unrelenting.
Dave, was an amazing father and one I always envied Jennifer for having.
Dave is what most men aspire to be. A man of honor, courage and greatness
The world has lost a hero, but heaven has gained an angel.
With my love and gratitude
My question on how you say good-bye to David Rutter? Simple you cherish every memory of him you have.
forever and eternally
Shelly Fairservice
